The term “color blind” or color vision deficiency refers to the decreased ability to see or differences in color. Some easy things such as choosing ripe fruit, selecting clothing, and reading traffic lights can be more challenging. Color blind can also cause some educational activities harder.
There are three settings included in Fortnite. They are based on the player’s type of color blind. From the Ability menu, you may pick one of the three variations of colorblind modes. Those include Protanope, Deuteranope, or Tritanope. Have you heard about those three?
Protanope is the one that cannot see red light, resulting in red and greens looking grim, and blues and yellow standing out. Deuteranope is the one that is unable to see green light, resulting in red and greens looking gloomy, and blues and yellow standing out. Tritanope is the one that is unable to see the blue light, resulting in greens looking murky, and reds appear pink.
The most popular colorblind is called Tritanope. This one is used by the popular professional player of Fortnite called Tfue. Apparently, the colorblind settings of Tfue is Tritanope 10.
For your information, color blind affects 1 in every 12 men, and 1 in every 200 women, so it is not something that is hardly there. In the game field, especially online games, tons of aspects of the game are coded by color. Those include crafting, enemy markers, indicators, and more. Although many gamers are able to adapt because they do not expect the option, it does add another layer of difficulty that really should not be there at all.
A few well-known games such as Destiny, Overwatch, Call of Duty, Doom, Grand Theft Auto, and some few others have adapted in the name of accessibility. The good news is that Fortnite also has been adapted to the colorblind. You are able to find the colorblind option in the new Accessibility tab in the options of the game. There is a strength indicator so you can find a level that is best for you. This one is currently still in development so it is better for you to give Fortnite the feedback, especially if you are unable to find the level that makes the colors better for you.
For those with colorbind or color vision deficiency, color bind mode comes standard in Fortnite. If you want to access it, the first thing that should be done is to go to the Settings. You can do it by pressing Esc or Options and then choose the gear located in the top corner. When it is cone, choose the Accessibility Tab to find the Color Correction settings.
As mentioned above, color correction or colorblind modes come in three different modes. After selecting the mode, you are able to increase the strength of color correction. It goes from 0 to 100. If you want to get the same colorblind settings as Tfue, then please choose Tritanope and set the strength of color correction to 10. You are able to dial in and use the chart to the right.
