With the feature called cross-platform play, you are able to play games such as Fortnite with friends who play on different platforms. Fortnite supports cross-platform between Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
How do you enable cross-platform with your friends who are not on Xbox? First of all, you will need to have the Play with people outside of the Xbox Live setting enabled on your Xbox account in order to allow the cross-platform. Actually, there is a high chance that the feature is enabled, but if you are under 18, you will need to change this setting. For those who have your parents set up a Family in their Microsoft Account and you are in it, chances are you will have to get them to do it.
In case you are under 18 and have family restrictions on your account, you will have to get the parent of your Microsoft Family to log in and tell them to log into their Microsoft account and they will end up on their settings page.
Your parents will need to go to Privacy and Online Safety, and then choose the Child account from the Family list. Then, they will need to tab over to Xbox Live of Windows 10 Online Safety and change the Play with people outside of Xbox Live setting to Allow. If you also want to talk to your friends, you will also want them to change the You can communicate outside Xbox Live with voice and text to Allow.
So, how do you enable cross-platform in Fortnite? In order to enable cross-platform in the game, you will have to set up your Xbox Live account but also sort out your Epic Games account. Once you are logged in, go to the Account located in the top right. From here, go to Connect Accounts. You will now be able to see some different options to link your gaming platform to your Epic account. Here you will need the Epic account username or email of your friends, not their Xbox Live account of PSN ID.
